Why I Started Rentala: Turning a Passion for Fashion into Dress Rentals
Share
Fashion has always been a part of my life. I was born in Italy into a family deeply rooted in the industry, both of my parents worked as buyers from New York City for fashion brands, and I grew up surrounded by the energy, creativity, and elegance of the fashion world. When I later moved to Miami, and eventually to New York, I carried that passion with me, even though I never formally worked in fashion.
Even though I wasn’t in the industry professionally, I’ve always loved shopping, styling, and exploring personal style. But over time, I noticed a problem: dresses were often extremely expensive, and the big rental platforms just weren’t offering the looks I wanted trendy, versatile, and sustainable pieces that felt authentic to my style.
That’s when I realized there was a gap, not just for me, but for girls like me who wanted access to stylish, affordable dress rentals without compromising on sustainability. And that’s how Rentala was born.
I started small, listing some of the dresses I had already invested in and loved but wasn’t wearing enough. From there, I gradually purchased more pieces with a goal to keep sustainability at the heart of every decision, choosing durable fabrics, versatile styles, and items that could be rented again and again.
Now, one year later, Rentala is more than just a personal project, it’s a growing small business and a vibrant community of women who value style, affordability, and sustainability. Every dress rented is a small step toward reducing waste and promoting responsible fashion consumption.
My goal is simple: to provide clothing rentals and dress rentals that empower people to express themselves, look amazing, and make environmentally conscious choices, all while building a brand that stays true to its roots in sustainable fashion.
As Rentala grows, I hope to reach even more people, expand our collection, and continue creating a community-driven platform where fashion meets sustainability. This journey is just beginning, but every rental, every happy customer, and every shared style moment reminds me why I started.
Rentala isn’t just about dresses, it’s about building a sustainable, stylish future together.
