400+ Dresses Rented in 2025: How We Helped the Planet

When I started Rentala, my goal was simple: make fashion fun, affordable, and sustainable. But this year, something incredible happened, you all helped us turn that goal into real-world impact. Over 400 dresses were rented in 2025, and the numbers show that together, we’re making a difference in sustainability through clothing rentals.

Water Saved

Did you know that producing a single cotton dress can use up to 2,700 liters of water? That’s enough water for a person to drink for almost 2.5 years. By choosing dress rentals instead of buying brand-new, our community saved an estimated over 1 million liters of water this year. That’s roughly 430 bathtubs full, all because you opted for sustainable fashion and clothing rentals.

CO₂ Emissions Avoided

The environmental impact of clothing isn’t just water, it’s carbon, too. The average new dress produces about 22 kg of CO₂ during its lifecycle. Multiply that by 400 rentals, and we’re talking about nearly 9 tons of CO₂ avoided. That’s equivalent to driving a car for 20,000 miles. By embracing dress rentals, you’re helping reduce the fashion industry’s carbon footprint one outfit at a time.

Giving Dresses a Longer Life

Most fast fashion items are worn fewer than 7 times before being discarded. Our clothing rentals extend each dress’s life to 20–50+ wears, depending on the piece. That means fewer new dresses need to be produced, less waste ends up in landfills, and more people get to enjoy the same amazing styles. Sustainable dress rentals make fashion circular instead of disposable.

The Bigger Picture

The fashion industry is responsible for 4% of global freshwater use and ~10% of global carbon emissions, more than aviation and shipping combined. Dress rentals and clothing rentals may seem like small actions, but every rental helps reduce that enormous footprint, one outfit at a time.

Thank You

This year, renting a dress wasn’t just about looking good. It was about doing good. Every rental made a difference, and I couldn’t be prouder of the Rentala community for choosing sustainable fashion and clothing rentals.

💚 Here’s to making 2026 even bigger, better, and greener.
